Proper Use and Care
for Stone Working Tools

Protect your investment: Always protect carbide blades when not in use, avoid contact against other carbide blades and steel tools.

NEVER USE ONLY A PORTION OF THE BLADE... ALWAYS ALLOW COMPLETE CONTACT OF ENTIRE BLADE SURFACE TO CONTACT THE STONE. EXAMPLE: THE CORNER OF A LARGE CHISEL SHOULD NOT BE USED FOR A SMALLER CHISEL. IMPROPER USE OF THE BLADE CAN CAUSE THE CARBIDE TO FRACTURE OR BREAK.

Carbide tips can be sharpened with a Silicon Carbide grinding wheel (usually green). Do not allow carbide to overheat when sharpening and DO NOT quench blade. Allow blade to air cool. Always leave edges of carbide blade slightly beveled, as they were when the tool was new.

Stone hammers are "Thru-Hardened" and can be sharpened with an Aluminum Oxide grinding wheel (Standard on most common bench grinders). Do not allow steel to overheat. Quench steel with water while grinding.

Wooden handles are subject to swelling and shrinkage from air humidity. If handle becomes loose in hammer head, place the head portion of the hammer in water and the handle will expand to it's proper size. Never use a hammer if the handle is loose.

ALWAYS WEAR SAFETY GLASSES AND GLOVES WHEN USING AND SHARPENING TOOLS.
